which is better to have? on my barton 2500, should i have it set default at 166x10, or 200x9? And hell, its only a 24 mhz difference, no big whoop. Didn't know if there was anything benificial or not. I'll run some benchmarks and see what I can come up with...

run it at 200*9 it will be faster

Well the 2500+ is 166x11 at stock speeds, but as for your question it is more beneficial to achieve a certain frequency with a higher FSB as opposed to a higher multiplier. Many times you will even see a performance gain with a high FSB and low multi giving a lower overall frequency than a low FSB and high multi, assuming the difference in overall frequency is minimal.

listen to tn and steven, they talk sense
i can run 230 x 10 = 2300mhz, or 250 x 9 = 2250
the latter is sooooo much faster its unbelievable
i always try to find the fastest the cpu will run at, then try and get the fsb as high as possible, while trying to maintain that speed, or as close as i can

you're right, it's 166x11 i wasn't thinking :-P

Why not run 200x10? That should be easily attainable with a 2500, or 200x11 which is 3200 speeds?

because i've done in the past and it failed. i guess the "burn in" time for my comp is a long time. When i first built it, if I even upped the ram voltage 0.1, the comp wouldn't boot, had to have everything stock. Now I can start oc'ing more and more. right now, 200x10 with 2-3-3-7 ram timings on a cas3 stick of ram is about as fast as I can get it. It's going at 1.65 volts and hell, its running 54C IDLE. I'm sure thought that after a while, I can get it at 3200+ speeds.

Oh when uping the FSB make sure your PCI/AGP speeds or locked or everything in those slots may get hosed.

Would the 166x10 or the 200x9 produce more heat, what does a faster fsb mean

well, right now my cpu's oc'ed to 3200, 1.80 volts, 60C, ram's 3-3-3-8, and had half the score i had when i had a 200x10 and higher ram speed with less voltage and a lower temp.... odd i say. it runs but it is just not stable. need a better cooler than a cnps3100, lol. any recommends?
also: here are some of my mobo's (k7n2 delta-L) settings i have ?'s about:
FSB/DRAM ratio: should I just leave this 1:1?
FSB Spread Spectrum: says "leave on disable if oc'ing fsb" ok thats disable....
AGP Spread Spectrum: Agp isn't oc'ed, so should I put it on 0.50% or 1.00%?
VGA Palette Snoop? wtf is this...
also, agp clock control should be left on default (66) right?
and lastly, PCI auto clock detect should be enabled/disabled?
cooling......cooling.....
you need better cooling
54C idle? hehehe i have to agree with ogboot, u need better cooling :)
