Yo! Just rebuilt a dell for my uncle, and it had a 1.3ghz willy... so i made me a kaychain!

If anyone ever needs help with taking one off, just freeze it and start knifing at the edge, and try to wedge something into the corner and pry it up. if you want it to live however, prolly wanna be a bit gentler LOL! So I owned a 800MHz PIII I paid $250 for 3 years ago. I am not going to go play frisbee with the thing. If it still works then but you said you could care less if it still works.

Yeah I have a PIV without a IHS. i also have had many tualatins without a IHS. You seemed like you could care less if it worked anymore. If I had the that chip I could find a old mobo for it on pricewatch for like $10~$20 with 256mb ram and make someone a nice email machine or at least a alright file server for my self. Performence would only be equal to around a 800MHz PIII but it is still nothing to just break because of ignorance.

I say beat the willy core with a 20-pound sledge, then burn the pieces :p There's no use in keeping that POS processor, no matter what the idiot Intel uber-fanboys might say. I don't own a single AMD system, nor have I since the days of my 5x86/133 overclocked to 160 (for reference, that's 486 technology we're talking about here, not even Socket5 yet).

I'm as Intel-owning as I could be, and I still think the Willy deserved whatever death it got. A PIII chip is worth more in my eyes than a stupid Willy; at least it performed well for it's speed. But those P4 willy chips just sucked bad, and got no better with age.

Some... they just ask wtf it is, then I show them the P4 logo and they are like.. OHHH!!.. LOL! I have around 128mb in just DIMMS extra I keep as a backup on a spare chain, and im gonna have a few CPU's that are dead themselves soon.

Hmm... you act like its something rare. ( I dont really care if it works or not. I have NO mobo, NO case, and NO ram to sue it with.) the cpu still works fine . . Hell, it came out of a dell that was a few years old, and the mobo was dead. I replaced it with an Athlon 1700+. The cpu is worthless almost to me. The cpu will end up being an extreme OC experament soon.

Thats the thing. 1.) Im an amd guy. 2.) a 1.3ghz willy gets outperformed in everything by a 1700+ which is $40. I only have a cable modem, and a server would be nice, but I would have to find a case to replace the junk dell one, a psu, RAM, and a hdd now. All I did was replace my uncles dead mobo with an athlon. $10-$20 with ram?!!! YIKES!! Where do you buy your stuff?!! $20 is like a 64mb stick LOL! Lucky to get that.

Hmm... wow.... looking at the PC's i have around the house.. lets see... an Athlon 2000+, an Athlon 2500+ overclocked to 2.37Ghz, and a celeron coppermine 800mhz, and a 1.3ghz tbird that maxes out at 1500mhz. Im sure a 1.3ghz willy would fit in there well =P Break of ignorance? Hell, I was actually gonna buy some dead CPU's to use them/ the IHS for a nifty add-on to my collection. Do you have a window in your case? Did you put it in? if so, that could easily fry your whole pc with the plexiglass, because it makes a lot of static. windows are unsafe really, but hell. you only live once =P

Hoot or someone actually took a hydrogen torch to a core of a locked tbred to pull up the solder and see if he could figure out a way to unlock them. Once again I applaud him.

You on the other hand come to a intel forum saying I took the IHS off the but I didn't really care if I killed the CPU I mean it is a intel so I didn't care if I killed it, look at my sig I am a AMD guy. I needed another keychain.

I still have a Atari 800 computer and a Texas Instruments TI-99 4A and they both are still in working condition, I would never imagine destroying them. Even though they are very obsolete, I will probably give them to my kids when I have them someday.

1.) THE CPU IS ALIVE D00D! FIGURE THAT MUCH OUT YET?
2.) My friend was gonna give me $20 for the CPU+ some other peices, and he hasn't done much modding wise, so I took it off, so if I broke it, he wouldn't be out $20. he was planning on taking it off anyways.
3.) It had no use to me. It was a dust collector. The mobo I did have for it is beside me, and dead. aka. worthless. Im getting ready to mail the cpu to my friend soon. If it doesnt work, then he has a keychain. the $20 isnt a deal anymore, he's sending me one of his dead celerons to add to my keychain, and im giving him my willy to have an overclocking frenzy with =P. He has a Thorton @ 2300mhz air cooled anyways. BTW, that tutorial isnt a willy. Try taking a willy IHS off. quite a bit harder when you have 1/4 CM to work with beside the core.
