okay, i've recently aquired two free chips :)

i tested them both in the free board i got, with the free ram. pretty sweet deal, the ram ran memtest fine, (it was thought bad and chucked, i saved it from the trash box), on the free mobo and one of the processors.

the stepping for the kown good processor:
AMD Athlon
A0900AMTB3
ARGA0123SPSW
Y6444350154
1999 AMD

this is printed on hte CORE, and the processor is 900MHZ. is t an XP? (i have no idea whta hte difference is)
the core is on the same type of material the pentium 1 processors was, while i noticed my DLT3C was on regular (seeming) silicon board....any idea what kind of care it has/how fast she will go? hte POS motherboard i got wiht it probly wont push it far, i diddnt even see settings in the bios to OC with, but free is free, i probly wont even OC it....i'm just wondering :-P
BTW, its got a crappy HSF form a socket 7 K6 233 right now, and runs at like 45 C idle...these are safe up to 65-70C, right? (non-OC'd)

i also got another chip, i assume its bad, when i put it in no fans spin, (NB fan or CPU fan...unsure about PSU fan) and i get nothing. i assume its aslo 900, its cose to the same stepping.
AMD Athlon
A0900AMT3B (3B instead of B3, i posible got it wrong ubove but i dont think so)

ARGA0123SPSW (same)
Y6444350063 (different)
1999 AMD

i assume its fried, i'll probly take a hammer to it...heh....just wondering what to do with it really, maybe it could be saved? no idea.

thanks!

i think the older one's where callled Athlon's with a MHz not a PR rating i got a few old ones here there slot a Athlons. one is a 850 MHz and i got 941MHz out of it. just watch those temps

and for the other one if its dead there is no bringing it back. make a key chain out of it

these are socket 470 or something, i assume they are socket "a".

(not slot)

i'm not sure the otehr is dead, but probly is.

and i haveno idea if they have a PR rating or not, i found the speed by putting it in and turning it on...not a clue as to what the rating would be. i guess not many people have these old buggers lying around, i'll probly build a pos system out of it and sell it for a few bucks.
