Hi guys, great forum...

I have an older celeron chip, it's a 300 that runs stable at 474 (4.5). I bought it when I was building my last machine, but I aquired a 568 chip instead for the same board. Now I have this 474 laying around idle, and I thought I might look into aquiring the items to build a secondary around it.

What is the ideal motherboard to look at getting for this? back in the day, I bought a ABIT BX6 2.0 (i think?) but this might not be the best bet anymore.

I would be interested to find if there are any "do everything" boards that might include video and audio cards built in that might fit my needs.

I remember reading something about 810 boards back then, but never looked into it. I understand that 810 sucks now, but what has replaced them for these older chips?

Also, what kind of ram would I need to aquire to get this running. I have drives, cases, etc, and even a spare AGP card (mill 2) to use if I need it.

This machine would serve only as a machine to play STARCRAFT/BROODWAR, and to play MP3's, and that's pretty much it. (girlfriend likes to play when she's over, we want to play together)

Thanks in advance, guys...

815e chipset boards have built in video and sound.
They use 168pin memory. All but 1 is a socket 370 type cpu thou. The only slot 1 is the abit sh6.
None of these boards have isa slots that I know of only pci.

Great! IT's a ppga chip (370) so that's ideal. I'd honed it's top PERFECTLY flat so it's easy to cool (1000 grit paper on a sheet of glass gets things very flat)

Which brands of boards on the market can do 105 mhz FSB? also, the 168pin ram, what is it called, and where should i look for it?

Thanks in advance

All can do that fsb.
Here is a good comparison of 18 815 boards.

Its just regular 168pin ram like you use in a bx board.

Most of the abits can do various FSB. Check out this link (http://www.abit.com.tw/english/index.htm) for Abit product specifications.

The RAM you're looking for is SDRAM, 168 PIN DIMMS. Try here (http://www.pricewatch.com) for ball-park pricing or PC Boost (http://www.pcboost.com) for some inexpensive RAM options.
