View Full Version : Asus P2L97 MOBO and my Celeron 466
Hi all, I was hoping someone could help me out. I've got an Asus P2L97 Motherboard BIOS update 1009 and a Celeron 466 on a slocket. The highest multiplier I have is 7X and at 66mhz that 466. When I set the MOBO to 75Mhz bus it posts at 525 loads but when windows starts to load the sys tray the machine hangs. Is 75 Mhz pushing the poor 66Mhz Celeron a little too far? It won't even post at 83 Mhz bus.
Thanks
for any insight.

We here at the Overclockers Forum would love to help you. But you need to tell us a little more about your system.
What type of cooling are you using?
If you are using the stock intel heat sink and fan toss those and invest in a Alpha, Globalwin, but not a gorb.
What type of memory do you use?
What type of hard drive?
What type of video card?
Can you increase the voltage?
These are the little things that make it possible for us to help you.
Sure, its got an 8.4 gig Quamtum Fireball, 128 meg of PC 100 RAM and a V3 3000 16 meg. But I really don't think this is the prob. This is my first Intel machine, what I'm wondering is if the Celeron 466 PPGA can run at 75 Mhz, or is it just a 66Mhz chip? Its in a no name slocket as the P2L97 is slot1

The P2L97 is a iLX chipset mobo, and you should be able to run your Celeron with 75Mhz bus, did you try upping your core and I/O voltages a little? 83Mhz FSB is prolly out of reach since the Mendocino full speed cache maxes out around 550Mhz...
