I'm going to be getting some Tygon tubing for my new setup, that's not an issue, but looking through USplastic.com I see several types of Tygon listed.
All the tubing I'm looking at is 1/2"ID, 1/8"wall
listed here (http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=USPlastic&category%5Fname=Tygon%AE+Tubing&product%5Fid=Tygon%AE+Clear+Tubing+for+Chemicals+5 %2F16+inch+O%2ED%2E+thru+2%2D1%2F2+inch+O%2ED%2E) is $2.91/foot
listed here (http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=USPlastic&category%5Fname=Tygon%AE+Tubing&product%5Fid=Tygon%AE+Plasticizer+Free+Tubing) is $3.71/foot
listed here (http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=USPlastic&category%5Fname=Tygon%AE+Tubing&product%5Fid=Tygon%AE+Beverage%2C++Food+and+Dairy+ Tubing++Formulation+B%2D44%2D3+++++5%2F16+Inch+O%2 ED%2E+thru+1%2D7%2F8+Inch+O%2ED%2E) is $2.68/foot
and
listed here (http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=USPlastic&category%5Fname=Tygon%AE+Tubing&product%5Fid=Tygon%AE++Peristaltic+Pump+Tubing++++ 3%2F16+Inch+O%2ED%2E++thru++3%2F4%22+Inch+O%2ED%2E ) is $3.76/foot
Is the $2.68/ft stuff just as good as the $3.76/foot stuff?
What is the diference in these types of Tygon tubing?

You're a regular around here and I'll assume you know about Clearflex, but specifically want Tygon.

Funny you should mention it, I just sent money off for 10 feet of Clearflex for myself. Couldn't pass up the price of $.65/foot.
But I'm still currious as to the reason behind the different prices of the Tygon. If it's the same stuff, then why would the same size tubing be a different price in different sections? This leads me to believe that there are different types of Tygon. Could this mean some of them are more flexible than others, or some will stretch better than others? If anyone knows or has experience with using a couple different types of Tygon and has seen any differences in them, let me know.
Well, Tygon, as far as I know, is meant for medical/chemical etc type applications, so the various types of tubing are used for various types of chemicals. Some chemicals dissolve some tubing that other chemicals don't, so the chemicals that don't, go into the tubing.

just out of curiosity is there any benefit to tygon tubing over clear flex tubing for the average water cooling set up

It is said to bend slightly better. Maybe there are other minimal differences as well. Not sure whether types of tubing were ever tested on bend qualities and the like.
If you're not planning on tubing the whole house with the stuff, I'd say the costs of either kind of tubing are minimal.
Other people will probably say they got cheap tubing and used the savings to get a cup of coffee at the local StarBucks. So maybe the true comparison is ClearFlex + Coffee vs Tygon. :)

let's see, $.65 x 10ft = $6.50 ........... $2.68 x 10ft = $26.80 .......... $26.80 - $6.50 = $20.30 in savings. Maybe you need to reconsider where you buy coffee from ;)
Note: statistics may be slightly off considering Clearflex was purchased through classifieds instead of from retail source. :D

standard (US) watercooling supplier price seems to be $1.50/ft for clearflex so i guess about $12 savings... which still seems high for a coffee .....
