Hello all, Just signed up :)

Great info in these forums, plenty for a begginer to get their teeth into, ie me :)

Reason I joined was because for a while all I have used is the geforce mx series of cards, and today I got an entry level gaming card for the first time, a GeforceFX 5600 :)

It is nothing special to some of the major power cards owned by peeps in these forums I know, but for me it's a start up the ladder heh.

Anyways I wanted to ask a few questions so here goes.

In the Nvidia driver setting, after I have activated the coolbits stuff there are a number of things I am unsure on in the settings.

1st is
Use >47< mb of System Memory in pci mode, or what-evern it said I forget now.

Is that My systems Ram or is it the ram on the G-Card it's self??

Reason I forget exactly what it said now is that I just installed the new 56.55 Forceware drivers, and they don't seem to have that setting anymore.

Also another question was what is the setting..
Max Frames to render ahead >3<
all about??

Is it worth tweaking around with that setting to see if I can notice any slight differences in performance on some games??

Also my last question is this..
Whats the best free benchmarker for my card that I could try out.

Anyways thats all for now.
Thanks in advance for anyone help :)

Thanks for the advice and url :)

I will try and set the render frames ahead to 01 and see if there is any difference :)
I am assuming you meant 01 for the render frames ahead and not the mb of system memory :) Whioch I think is a safe assumption :)

Just wondering though, with me having 128mb on my card and also 512mb on my systems as ram alone, what should I set the
mb at in the use system memory part of a drivers menu properties, if I ever go back to a driver v that has that option available :)

When he said "01" he meant get 3dMark 2001. That is for DX8 cards such as the Geforce 4's. Then after you install DX9, run 3d mark 2003, which is for the newest tech cards. good luck.

Ahh I see ok.

Thing is though I already had dx 9 installed anyways, I installed it more or less the day it came out and was available for dl, and have installed the newer versions since then.

Anyways not to worry :)
