I jsut got motherboard monitor 5 to get an accurate reading on CPU temps and I am often getting a 10-15°C difference between socket and diode temps! Anyone else got about the same results?

Sounds about right.

Diode temps are going to do 2 things. First of all, they're going to be hotter generally because it's a simulated temperature of the ACTUAL CPU DIODE, which generates the most heat. The socket temp is slower to respond to loads as well, due to the fact that it's measured in a different part of the CPU.
