Ok, about 2 years ago when I didnt know much about comps I unfortunetely bought a Compaq Preasrio 700Mhz. I was happy with it until I started getting into expansion and overclocking. Everything in this piece of **** is OEM. The motherboard is not able to increase FSB and SoftFSB or any other software doesn't work. Oh well I learned my lesson. So Now I am buying a new Alienware style case (SOHO File Server) and a new motherboard.
I need help on which motherboard I should choose. I am set on the ASUS P3V4X (http://www.asus.com/products/Motherboard/Pentiumpro/P3v4x/spec.html). It comes with the VIA 133A chipsets and able to reach 150 FSB max. So I am wondering, is that a good motherboard?
Again, I am new to this and would like a couple opinions, thanks :)

i remember when MBs where all socket 5 or 7, now u hafta choose between socket A,B,375 etc.. all for the processor, so it depends, what type of processor do u want? that really is the first step, not choosing the motherboard,

Endeavor is rite if you were to go with a 1G p3 150FSB is not enough if your keeping the 700 you will probably do fine with the Asus but you may want to leave room for a upgrade to another proccesor so you can take that into account while looking for a good MB
i would highly recommend abit be6 IIr2 for slot 1 (or w/slocket for socket 370) or the abit bx133 socket 370. both these boards have the bx440 chipset which is a proven chipset, takes all kinds of abuse and keeps on tickin'

I called some store in Houston, Directron.com, and they said that they don't make the ASUS p3v4x anymore. Is this true? Because I am having a really hard time trying to fins a distributor for this mobo. The one place I saw that had it was www.aberdeeninc.com and now they don't even have it in stock.
Can you guys tell me who sells this mobo? Thanks

im in Mass there is a shop up here that still has some in stock going for 125, but i found a listing for it on pricewatch.com for 106....go to pricewatch and search for p3v4x youll find it.
Edit: by the way i have one and am running in now, in my opinion they are great boards, just wish that they still made the older version(166fsb)
