View Full Version : New PIII CPU
Looking for a CPU upgrade. Have P3-450 now on Asus P2B-F mobo and 2-128mb ram (100 MHz).
Considering the P3-800e and new memory (133). Suggestions?
i am currently using a pentium111 800 eb and i am overclocked at 1,185GHZ, 256 pc 133,
if you are looking at overclocking that processor, i would recommend a pentium 111 700 E, reason being that i have a friend that has a 700MHZ, and he has been able to overclock it to 1,300 GHZ, now i do not know what all you have in your box (Videocard AGP or PCI the brand name of your video or generic ,the type of RAM that you have generic or brand name , type of heatsink that you are planning on getting or have, but if you have the right combination of hardware, you can really get sum juice outa that processor. if i am correct the pentium 700 has a higher multiple than the pen. 800, i wish i woulda knew that b4 i purchased the one that i have, but i am purely satisfied with what i am overclocked at now, hope i have helped a bit. good luck!!
Very helpful, thanks. Video is ATI Rage Fury, sound is SB Live!. Memory is brand name but can't remember who.
Will look at P3-700 and offset $ save from a P3-800 and put toward band name 133 RAM. Heat sink I am looking at is one by Global Win.

Xiggy, are you sure you are running your P3 800EB at 1185mhz?? that's... 197mhz FSB. Even with a dual peltier setup, that's still very unlikely to go that high and be stable...
and.. a P3 700 going 1300mhz is also too far.. 185mhz FSB??? oh dear... you guys must have some special talent on cooling those setup and make them stable...
Thanks for making me laugh ミルク粉.

I was just surprised how far Xiggy has gone with his 800eb. I wasn't being sarcastic or any harm in anyway.. I want to know how he managed it to run it at that speed.. with what Vcore, Cooling, and mobo.. that's all.. :) no offense. ^.^

I refrained from replying to that post myself...I find those numbers a bit hard to swallow. I did the math myself, figuring out the FSB's for each. I'm quite curious on how this was done.
I thought the thoeretical ceiling for the CuMine core was 1.13GHz. Both of thes chips are WELL over that speed. 180+ and 190+ FSB(?!?)....I'd love to see some screenshots of that, and I'd be interested in the above mentioned specifics, myself.

hey ミルク粉 does the cute nurse pic get you lots, ahem, offers?

are you sure your talking about Intel CPUs. If you have an AMD cpu, they are believable, but Intel has trouble getting anything to 1.13GHz on the PIII core(thus enter P4). Those are fantastic numbers if possible, but I will really have to see some screens before I can believe it.
