Ok so i found a deal i couldnt pass up, a mobo/cpu combo for $5.00 US !

Now, i throw all my spare hardware into a case and boot this thing up, posts, and continues to boot. Right were it should be searching for windows or an OS, it says searching CD Rom for boot, waits a while, and goes to a different screen. This new screen that comes up says a bunch of crap about "Novell Netware Firmware boot" or something like that. This dosnt make any sense, i have never used netware, this hdd is blank, the disk inside the dvd-rom is the windows xp install disk.

This is my own hdd, and the mobo/cpu is new outta the box, and im running 512mb PC2100 DDR. Oh sorry i forgot to mention what kind of mobo/cpu its running. It is running a VIA C3 1.3ghz that is soddrered to the mobo. here is a link if your interested, http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=146907&sku=S452-1001 .

Im wondering how i can get this thing to recognize the cd thats in my dvd-rom right now, do you think its worth trying a different drive? i think i might try that.

Im just wondering if anyone has ever worked with a via c3 before, this sure is a first for me.

Please any suggestions will be appreciated, i really wanna get this thing up and running, its gonna be folding 24/7 ! (not the best setup but hey, its $5!)

this happened to me on a friends machine, exactly the same, needed the bios flashing, so give that a try, if you can find one for that baord

Maybe googling the Novell Netware, will give you results to understand what you need to do. :D

thanks but i got it all figured out, the DVD-ROM was bad, it didnt read disks correctly. This thing works, and for $5, im very pleased :) but it is hella slow, and its only 800mhz, i just found out that it was a type-o on tiger directs page :(

tiger direct seems to have a few typo's recently, good buy though.

Make sure you report that typo and your disatisfaction with getting a 800MHz processor when you payed for a 1300MHz processor on http://www.resellerratings.com. TigerDirect has been 'goofing up' way too much lately, and we need to push for the customers to give them the reviews they deserve.

But for $5 sounds like its a cool deal. Do us at folding@home team32 a favor. See how good those C3's fold. Stop by the folding forum and check out the threads there. Ever since this deal many people have asked how well these things can fold.

will do, once i can get overclockix to boot correctly on it, im having a problem because i cannot change the resolution, and it uses one too high for my tiny 15"LCD. But thats a whole other issue :) Thanks guys.
