Here's the deal, I increased my Fsb from 100 Mhz to 112 Mhz right off the bat. I turn on the box, my processor was identified as a PIII 560. It ran alright for a while then registry errors appeared. I lowered my Fsb to 105 Mhz hoping to ease my registry. My question is, why at start up, is my processor still identified as a PIII 560 ??????

Also I ran a memory benchmark with Sandra, under test statistics the array memory used was only 128 mb. Why would that be when I run a stick of 256, that's recognized by the bios and Sandra. My memory scores are: Int ALU / 186 mb/s
Float FPU/ 196 mb/s

I'm new all, be gentle. lol lol

ARE YOU SURE WHEN YOU LOWERED YOUR SETTINGS THAT THEY WERE SAVED? YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO CLEAR CMOS AND THEN RESET YOUR SETTINGS AND THEN THEY SHOULD SHOW CORRECTLY

Float FPU/ 196 mb/s DOES IT SAY 2 STICKS AT 128? THATS WHAT MINE DOES I WOULD NOT WORRY ABOUT IT.

i'M NOT SURE WHY YOUR GETTING THE ERRORS BUT IF YOU RAISE CORE VOLTAGE TO YOUR CPU IT MAY STOP THE REGISTRY ERRORS BUT IF YOU DO RAISE CV JUST DO IT A LITTLE AND WATCH YOUR TEMPS KEEP IT COOL KEEP IT HAPPY.

Registry problems are usually caused by the pci bus running too high.
Make sure you set it to 1/4 and not 1/3.
SiSoft Sandra uses 1/2 of the amount of memory installed for the memory bechmark by default.
You can change the option to use all memory but then it includes your virtual memory as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't that cpu be putting out 4 digit scores? or at the very least high 3 digit scores?
OOPs, I was reffering to cpu scores, and you refferenced memory scores...sorry, my mistake. :-)

Compuwife has a PIII500E, and maybe she can be talked into doing a benchmark to give you a ballpark figure as to what you can expectfrom your cpu?

BTW, is your cpu a 500E(coppermine)? or is it the one with 512k of cache (katmai)? The katmai will not do much over 600mhz...if that.
I got rid of my Katmai 500 because it would not do much over 560....My 450 would do more.
At any rate, good luck, and welcome to the forum :-)
