I have a Compaq 5724 with a Celeron 500 on (not sure of the motherboard, I know it is an Intel mobo with the Intel i810 chipset)...anywayz, I have tried to overclock this thing everyway I can think of...until now, I downloaded a program from Voodoofiles.com called cpu cooler. In this program there is a device like SoftFSB. I was messing around with it, and said I had an Intel Seattle-tx(I think) and set the PLL Manufacturer to Cypress and the PLL type to W312 02 B...then told it to make the FSB 100mhz with a 33MHZ PCI Bus...It didnt go upto 750mhz like I was hoping...but, It did work! It went up to 528 MHZ...I was wondering if anyone knew if this hurt my CPU or anything else...And, If there is a way I can take it higher because 528 is the higest it will go...Also, to take it back down to 500 I have to reset the BIOS...Thanx
The particular chip you have doesn't overclock very far, 600mhz is about it...
To go any higher you will need to be able to increase the voltage. You're trying to accelerate without giving it more gas. The voltage setting would be in the BIOS of the motherboard, and because it's an OEM (prefab) machine, it may not allow it.

I have updated information for anyone with this system and wants to overclock. Go to voodoofiles.com and download CPUFSB. Set your mobo manfac. to Intel and the type to Seatle BX-2, set the PLL manu. to ICS, and set PLL type to 9250-10 B. Now you can overclock to the desired speed. I could only get my CPU to go 550mhz stable.

I made a mistake, set the PLL type to 9250-10 A instead of 9250-10 B
Those old .25 micron Celery's maxed out at about 600 mhz if you are lucky. I have had 5 of them well actually still do. 1 533 and 2x500's on a BP6 all 3 of these run at 600. The other 2 are dual 366's on another BP6 at 572. Voltages on these cpu's range from 2.05-2.2
Bottom line is at 528 there is not much more room for you to go anyway so just be happy with what you have.
