I have done some experimenting with a home made "heat pipe"
There was no calculation involved "just a experiment" i hope
this will inspire others to continue this experiment even to improve on my first design, perhaps evolving in a true cpu cooling unit.

Take a look at my site http://users.skynet.be/Ber60/

Questions one did you try to make a vacuum before you put your refrigerant in it?
Question two why are you using nylon tubing when you can use copper with brass fittings?
Question three how did you seal the pipe on the side?

1. No vacuum was made
2. I had to see it work (seeing is believing) of course full copper would have saved me a lot of misery
3. I never sealed the pipe one the side, just clamped off the plastic tube, i had to try different liqiuds so i only used a clamp

A vacuum will make more efficient and less presser too.
a srader and scrue cap will make a better seal

True , that will be used if i can find better materials and tubing for my next setup that i hope to realize ,a passif cooling system for my cpu, if i can find the time for making one.

coffe pots in a second hand store should be cheep and the fittings in a store like home depo probly about 3 bucks a pece.
and you will probly have to fill it all the way up then let the extra blow off to make only the refgerent in it.
