Not sure about how new of BIOS is available for that board, but if you can get a relatively new flash, Celeron II support may be possible. A savvy buyer can find a 600 MHz range Celeron II and a slocket adapter for your PII board for around $70. That'd be a good, cheap upgrade.

What do you do with the system? If you're a big gamer and plan on to continue to run Windows, you may want to skip the new proc and get rid of that Banshee! I certainly don't mean any offense to you, but that's an archaic piece of video hardware that should be incinerated immediately! However, I'll stop ragging on you if you are going to use Linux and do things like compile Kernels or run a server of some sort - then by all means get the new processor and skip the vid upgrade.

Good luck with the upgrades!

I agree. I ran a 486 dx 4 100 while at university. It was a work horse. Bit slow, but excellent for writing papers and getting work done. I have a pII 233 at the moment and it's served me very well.

Recently I added a 7200 rpm drive and 128 megs of ram and the machine is decent.
