Ok first for some stats:
Load - CPU: 30 GPU: 28 HDD: 26 NB: 36 Air: 22
Idle - CPU: 26 GPU: 26 HDD: 26 NB: 31 Air: 22

These temps are with one case side off and no fans in the case running.
I'm trying to figure out if my NB is too hot due to lack of air flow in the case or if maybe I didn't seat the block properly.
The NB and HDD run in parallel to the CPU and GPU.
When I turn on a 8" house fan and blow it into the case then the NB temp drops to 30 at load (28 at idle). This makes me believe that the block is seated ok but the temp is too high because of lack of air flow in the case. Where is the diode on the motherboard located that is reading the MB temp? Is it under the NB chip? If not then the airflow would make a difference on the temp.
Any ideas? I don't feel like trying to re-seat the NB block because getting it on with those stupid hooks is a real challenge. And if it's seated fine now then I don't want to mess with it.

Suggestions...!?!

In a water system, airflow over the NB block (or any other waterblock) should not be an issue since the water carries the heat away. Airflow through the radiator is the important concern.

I know that but then why does the MB temp drop from 36 to 30 at load when I turn on a fan?

That's why I was wondering where the diod for measuring MB temp is located. If it's not under the NB chip then air flow would give different readings. If it is below the chip then why does the temp drop with a fan?

The motherboard temp readout isn't a NB temp sensor. It's a sensor somewhere on the board meant to measure ambient temperature inside the case.

have you though of water cool the NB all you nead is to take a block of coper about 1/4" thick and soder a pece 1/2" coper pipe with 45* street elbows on it. this will keep hi flow rates.

I already am water cooling the NB
