Pls help me out here. I intent to purchased the SP94 for my 2.4C
CPU. Do i need to apply any thermal paste on the cpu first before
mounting the HS.:)

Of course! Always apply thermal paste, if you don't your CPU will go up in smoke in a few minutes time.

Will Artic Silver do or are there other better paste:)

AS is usually better than compounds that come with heatsinks.

I recently replaced my P4 2.8b stock cooler with a SP94. I saw a 20 deg F drop in CPU temp while running SETI. I used Arctic Silver 5 per Thermalright's instructions (paste spread on both CPU and heatsink). I think that I'll try Arctic Silver's instructions (dab of paste on center of CPU only)when I up grade to a P4 3.2C in the near future. There's some good info on installing the SP94 elsewhere in the OC's forums. Check it out.
