Hey all,

Quick Background Bit

I've got myself a 9800 256 clocked to 380/700 (stock). I can overclock the ram loads but the core just will not go above 385 without giving artifacts.

I've measured the voltage to the GPU and its only at 1.6volts. From reading up on volt mods it seems the usual voltage is 1.7v. Now I firmly beleive its the lack of voltage that is stopping my overclock.

I'm prepared to go ahead with the volt mod, I've done them before in the past without problems. I would idealy only be aiming for about 1.7volts (normal 9800 voltage and therfore safe-ish), with the option to go higher later on.

I've got a Artic Cooler Silencer and I have removed the shim off my card and using AS3. It can defo handle the 1.7v as can the rest of my system.

So Heres the Main Point of this Thread

So what I was wondering just before I do the volt mod has anyone else had much overclocking luck with cards that have 1.6vs as the default voltage ? Also what did you get after doing the volt mod ? I would like to get to about 420 ish and above, just anything more than I am currently getting \o/ so that it can match the Ram which overclocks like a mother !

Cheers,

Ecks

Look here for people's results. It shows which ones are volt modded:

you can just PM those who did volt mods since they might not ever see this thread otherwise.

Cheers, I'll have a look through that now. Had a couple of strange crashes tonight so I've restored my bios settings from a back up file (gota love being able to do that ;) DFI rox). Running prime95, now ive got some reading material ;) cheers.
