I dont know about DOS, but I don't think that people need two of today's processors to help make DOS run faster. :)
I was on 95 with a Dual P2 400. I switched to XP Pro, and definately saw the difference. but it helps to have more RAM for XP if you have slower processors. I have 128mb in here, with a P3 1ghz now(soon to be dual) and it runs almost without lag. So you don't always NEED more ram.
Sorry..I figured everyone would know I was joking.

You never know with dos. ;)
Anyway, if you're looking for a cheap OS to run with your dualies, Linux is the way to go, but pro at newegg is only around 120 bucks (last time I checked).

I remember back in Jan 99 when I got my ASUS P2BD and 2x P3 450MHz. The leap from K6-2 & AX59Pro @ Win98 to dual P3 @ W2k Beta was extreme. I used that machine for three years as main ring, and I never had problems with any games. (3 different graphics cards though, from ATI Rage Fury to Gainward GF2 MX400)
The day I sold that machine (got almost 70% of what I paid for it :) ) was a sad day. I felt like parting from a dear friend, and I missed it for a long time. I bought some used parts here and there, and ended up with a P3 800EB that I OC'ed to 150FSB. But still it was NOTHING compared to the good old P2BD. I know now that it's first when you go back to a single system you find out how great dual machines are.
The story has a happy ending though as you can see in my signature.
(I know this has more or less nothing to do with what the threadstarter was after, but his question is answered and it got me thinking back to the good old days, and I wanted to share this with you.)
