View Full Version : POSTS ARE GETTING LOW
I noticed that the posts to this dept/Intel section are getting low.
Yet, the General topics/posts are booming.
Just food for thought, and yet I'm still hungry?.. why??
And to think the Intel section used to be bigger than the AMD section. Maybe when something better than the P4 comes out things will change.

i'd bet it's because a lot of people are switching to amd, at least to overclock with. esp. with the somewhat controversial performance level of the p4. maybe there are less problems with intel chips too, hard to tell about that as i use mainly amd.

I agree w/ the earlier posts. Thanks to the knowledegable list members...I think most people are holding off on P4 purchases and waiting for the next best thing.
I also believe that due to multiplier unlocking and different mobo variables, AMD posts in general are greater than Intel.

I use Intel so I dont browse the AMD forums. But I have noticed that over at [H] forum's General Mayhem that a lot of people are asking the same AMD questions over and over again. Could this be happening here? I dont want to check and for me tojump over to AMD it would be to expensive to do that now.
Besides with the multipliyer locked and cCO stepping being the only o/c favorable stepping (I know of cDO but that hasnt become overwhelmingly popular yet) The only discussions in the Intel forums really are CPU and MB choice. Granted there is random talk of a fast or slow chip, potential unlocking of the mult.. and other assorted stuff.
But look at AMD they have some CPUs that are unlocked (factory) and talk of unlocking/troubleshooting locked CPUs. They have the fragile core issue. And well I hate to say it they do outperform Intel (plus are cheaper)
So basically what I am trying to say is the price and performance of AMD chips is what brings people to the AMD forums but its the cracked core and bad pencil trace tricks that keep the reposting and reposting....
Did I mention that AMDs also run hotter so there is a whole other avenue of queries by those AMD guys.
(Edit for grammar mistakes)
The P4 is to high $ for most of us ocers even if we can afford it and there has been nothing new in the P3 line for quite a while so things will take a slump for now. AMD is the current OC champ with it's unlocked multipier so there are more posts there now but like was said earlier there are so many repeats of the SAME THING over and over again......if people would only use the search engin to find threads that contain the info they seek? I don't mind ansering these repeated questions but I come here to Intel for some new and interesting ones. I think after the next die shrink when Intel will have room to put back in what the P4 lacks it will make a comeback with a vengence, things should start to rock here!
I enjoy using both cpu's, been using Intel since the 8088 and AMD since their 486 clone. Currently I use Intel for buis(hands down better win2k boxes) and AMD for my toys :)

stompah, I have an AMD and an Intel. I broke my AMD mostly due to the stupid clip of the fop38 and my own extreme stupidity. And the same question are not posted over and over again there either. Most are problems people have with their cpus or just general amd questions, very similar to here. Just there are more of them cause more people here use them.

William like I had said I noticed the multiple postings over at the [H]ard Forum's General Mayhem. I dont browse AMD forums either here or anywhere else.
Hmmm... once somebody figures out how to unlock an Intel chip I assure you that ALL Intel forums will be extremely hot for quite a while. On that not I am gonna start a thread about if people would go from AMD to Intel if it is ever possible to unlock an Intel CPU.
Well, good to see I wasn't the only who noticed the drop in the past month.
What I usually do is have todays posts open in one window and I press the search for all posts by this user to see all the posts I've made in another so which ever forum has the most posts gets the most replys by me.
