Just wondering, what you've obtained with your "E" P3's. Im getting a 750E tomorrow and just want a picture of what I can expect. What V you using, board? Cooling? Thanks.
Also what do you think the chances of me getting to a gig are. I have an Alpha PEP-66 for cooling with a Sunon 22cfm 60mm Fan. Also got 1 case fan.
Abit BE6-2
Celeron 600@900 cC0 1.75v
512mb PC-133 ram 2x256 sticks. 1 is Micron, the other Azem.
15gig Seagate Barracuda II
ATI Radeon 32mb DDR
SB Live X-Gamer
NIC for DSL
36x Acer CD-Rom
8x Panasonic DVD
300W PSU
Well, 133 FSB gets you to the 1GHz plateau. You ought to have a decent shot at that.
Hope you get one that goes well beyond there...

with luck , you will get that 1 ghz mark! Good luck to you and keep us posted.
I have a p3 700@933. I have it running at default voltage and usually only 5 degrees C over ambient with my alpha pep66.

as close as you are to 1 gig I wouldn't think it would take that much luck. However there are some really horrible chips out there. I'd guess gig would be easy. Use better than the OEM sink tho.......and DEFINITELY don't use the OEM thermal pad if you MUST use the sink.

I think you should be able to make it 1000mhz = 7.5*133fsb... possibly need more case cooling thought. My system is in my sig... I run my 700e@875, 1.75v..... but.... I have run it as high as 980 (7*140) and it will post and load windows, never ran any torture programs at that speed tho. I once set it for 1015mhz (7*145), but it would only get halfway through the POST and lockup, couldn't even pull up bios, had to clear cmos to fix it.
I have 4 case fans, but only run 2 of them when not gaming online. 2-120s(1intake front, 1 exhaust above chip on side of case), 1-92mm (intake blowing on vcard chipset), 1-80mm(exhaust near connector ports).
With an ambient temp of 24-25 and all 4 case fans on,
temps are:
Full load@875 = 38
Full load@933 = ~ 41
Full load@980, 1.8v = ~42
I think you have a really good shot as long as your cooling holds up. Good luck :)

Don't count your chickens, IME.
I have a cC0 SL4CF Phillippines 750E Chip. Would do 960 without effort but to get to 1Gig took initially 2.2v, then 2.1v and now 2.05v.
Runs in a BE6-2 with SH bios an I-Will Slocket 2 and a PEP66.
Two Panaflo L1As sucking in a Lian-Li PC60 with an Enermax 330W.
You will need a lot of cooling, some luck and some more luck.
YMMV

I have a 700e that'll 933 at default voltage and 980 at .5 over. Haven't been able to hit the magic 1gig mark ye though, my MB won't give me the juice I need (only goes up to 1.9v) it's probably for the best though, I don't have the funds to replace it if I kill it.
With the right cooling you should get to 1gig or close to it no problem, just take i slow. Hope you got a good clocker and good luck.

You should be able to hit 1G with no problem...If you go into the cpu database there is a listing on your board for 147fsb...amongst others.
It is kinda a shot in the dark on how good of a chip you get, just hope for the best....I have a 700@1053@1.85v with 3 80mm fans and a Alpha cooler....im thinking with water coolong and a board with more bus options i could get higher.....Good luck on your overclock

I wouldn't say it would be no problem getting to 1ghz, with a bit of look and a good setup it is quite possible but not definate. The problem with the 750 is that if it doesn't reach 1ghz then you are stuck with out of spec bus speeds but good look.

Yes, your right..I should have worded that better..

I am thinking about getting either a P/// 750 or an 866 my question is should I go with an Eb or non Eb or can I even get them that way?
Now just to make sure I have this right EB = High FSB and a low Multiplier clock correct?
Thanks for any and all help people here are nice not like some boards I have been to

I also have a cC0 700 and it runs at 933 @ 1.70V (default). at 1050Mhz @ 1.85V. I got mine at PC Nut, they are great processors, I only wish I could get to 160FSB but my mobo is maxed out, but I am more than happy with 1.05 gigs :)

you could also take a look over in the CPU database and see the results of otheres.........

In the past I have been recomending people always go for the 700 as you get the biggest overclock from it, but with the price leveling of the rest it is getting more and more attractive to go for the higher speed EB's. When tualatin finally becomes more widely available though I can see the 1ghz 100mhz fsb version being very popular as long as some one comes out with a slocket or adapter for it.

Phil so you a socket man. Me I hate em I have had so many problems with them I just got fed up with it so now I like sockets.
By the way can you give me a link or something so I can read up on this
When tualatin finally becomes more widely available
Don't expect too much , read below
See below. This one is very temperamental. If I go higher, I end up with explorer.exe errors, even with more voltage. Lately, I am even experiencing intermittent explorer.exe errors @ lower settings. I am thinking about sending the friggin' thing back to Intel. FYI. My $.02.
600E@800/v1.75 with retail HSF :) If I could get the hsf off I would use a better hsf but I can't get the fauker off!

I have a 700 E ant it did 854 easy. I havn't really tried higher yet. I have heard the EBs are a little harder to OC. My V is default and temp is 24-26 idle MBM5. Only sees 39 at max load. I made a custom HSF setup.
I have a 500E (time for an upgrade :-( )
I run just a retail HS/F on it. At 620 she runs really nice, though still drops out it hardcore apps like video editing. I have had it running @ 710 too. Temperatures were ranging at 50°C - 54°C. I was able to benchmark with Sandra, but most other apps give me issues.
Changing the RAM timing didn't clear the issues up, maybe it's the slocket?
Anyhoo... I have been happy with it, but think I will go with a TBIRD next.

I have a slot 1 750@1000. This chip was very stubburn and it took me awhile to get it there. It needs a vcore of 1.85 to run stable at a gig. It also has an Alpha P3125 cooler which keeps temps in the 33-36 range under load
some 700's won't reach 933mhz, it's inevitable that there will be people who haven't. If you don't want that risk then there is something called 'guaranteed overclock' where you buy the overlocked cpu as if you were buying a normal cpu and just run it as the place you bought it from has tested it and guaranteed it to overclock to a certain speed.
qc to say don't expect much because you've had bad luck would be like someone who got 1.1ghz saying there great and they all do that.
In fact I bet you could probabally reach 933mhz with a bit of fiddling and advice
