Or whatever it's called? The big 20 pin connector that connects to your mobo. I sleeved the cables on my PSU, except for that one. The connector is to huge to slip the sleeving through. Is there a way to safely take it off and put it back on? Like how you do w/ the molex connectors?

How do you do it with the molex connectors? And what size heatshrink do you need for them usually (sorry I couldn't help with your question)

What are you suing for the sleeve?

If you are using something like fabric, how about splitting the sleeve material and sewing/taping/rolling it back together?

That's how I sleeved my that cable on my PSU. I was using fabric. So I made a stitch at the top and then rollled it tightly over the cable like a bandage. Be sure to overlap slightly with each roll. When I was near the other end, I made another stitch to hold it in place. To make sure the roll won't come off, u can use some tape in the middle also.

A friend of mine recently showed me some piping that has a slit. You cut the piping according to the required length and squeeze the wires thru the slit inside the pipe.

Disconnecting/cutting off the 20 pin connector to fit a sleeve doesn't seem like a good idea; it will void warranty also.

I used a small precision screwdriver to pop the little tabs in on the side of the metal pins. Make sure you document which wires go to which spot on the plug before you remove them.

I bought the universal molex tool when I bought my sleeving. I think the heatshrink was 1/4 1/2 and 3/4. If you buy a kit, you don't have to worry about size.

Negative. The "Universal" bit usually means that the tool will work on male and female hard drive style connectors, which have round pins. The pins on the ATX connector are much smaller and square.

There are indeed small tabs on the sides of the pins that you need to push in simultaneously, but note where all the wires go ...

Yeah, I think he was answering my question though, which was about the 4 pin molex, not the big mobo one.

Well I just saw a tool that will remove them but they want 25 bucks for it. Check it out HERE (http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/frozencpu/slt-04.html)

I bet you a small tweezer would do the same thing that thing does.

Agreed. :D
A small screwdriver is useful for all sorts of things.

Also, some have luck with ink pen parts to pop off those
connectors. Haven't tried it myself so can't say for certian it
works. But I don't see why it wouldn't provided you get the
right size.
