View Full Version : [SOLVED] 995 sort of
well i had my celleron 566 running at 995 stable today at 2v. its weird though because at this speed i have to press insert to get the computer to boot but it seems to run fine at this speed. i suppose it need more voltage to start up but i really dont want to go much over 2v. right now i kicked it down to 954 mhz @1.9 v. im going to run it here for awhile and then maybe up it later after i can lower the voltage a bit.
as for cooling i have a alpha pal 6035 with a delta 38 mounted on it.
What case cooling do you have? I usually recomend no more than 2v for coppermines and only then with good cooling which you have.
What thermal compound do you have?
right now i have the case cover off and my old intel fan attached to my video card. i have a 60mm sanyo denki 3800rpm fan that i got with my alpha that i plan on attaching somewhere. other than that i really dont have much case cooling. my new 300w power supply runs very cool so my ram and hard drives are all that make any significant heat.
ahh thermal compound. well sadly i use the thermal grease that came with my alpha. its not the greatest but it does the job.
Well I would recomend sticking the 60mm behind the cpu as an exhaust for the case (there is usually room for either a 60 or 80mm fan at the back of the case under the psu fan) and maybe an 80mm for the front bottom as it can make the world of differance to temps. And a bit of artic silver would help a lot as well, you could probabally get a bit over 1ghz with that lot.

Hey Ebola, if ya have the Alpha w/Delta set up to suck you'd be better to set the exhaust up as a blowhole on top and forward in yer case. This way you're removing the hot air drawn off the heatsink. The way I have mine is :
Bottom front 1 80mm intake, side and stacked 2 120mm intake. Up top rear 2 80mm exhaust top of the case and forward 1 120mm blowhole Plus the 2 80mm at psu.
i was thinking of mounting a blowhole with my sanyo denki 60 mm fan on top. right now the case cover is off for the time being. also looks like i need to get a 3 to 5 pin converter for my delta.
