Okay, I bought a Xp1800 DLT3C JIXIB 0330 for a friend and am having some wierd trouble.

I'm pretty new to oc'ing and have only oc'ed barton's. Never a tbred before.

Okay, so I was going to set it conservitive to start off. I wouldn't see her or the comp. for a week, so I didn't want it to crash and didn't have much time to test with prime.

So I set it at 166x11, 1.7vcore, 2.6vdimm, 1.6vdd. When I went to save, it just went to a black screen and sat there. No rebooting, no DAMN beeping. Just sat there with a black screen. I tried it with 1.65 and 1.7vcore. Temps at stock at 33c idle, 36load. I was going to up the vcore to 1.8, but I figured it should be able to do 1.8ghz with 1.7vcore.

She has a nf7-s rev. 2, 1 gig pc2700 (crucial, ran 2.5-2-2-11 at 184fsb, 2.7-9vdimm w/ same mb and EXACT same psu), 430w Antec True Power, and a 947-u w/ TT SM2.

I'm going to work on it on friday, and just wanted to see what's going on and save myself some time.

I've NEVER had this happen before. I've had it save, and not post, and get that annoying beeping, but not just sit w/ a black screen. It doesn't even say that it's saving to cmos or anything. I haven't flashed the bios yet, but on post, at the bottom, it say "-20" which I belive means bios 20. This is what I used with it, so that shouldn't be a problem. But should I just reflash the bios to bios 20, just to make sure? I put hs's on the mosfets&southbridge, and a new NB cooler already. Case temp never passes 24c.

Also, someone else in these forums bought a identical chip (both bought them off someone on these forums) and got 2555mhz w/ 1.85v on water.

Good luck. My JIXHB wont break 2.2 without 1.775v, and refuses to work at 2.3ghz.

Ive heard that these are supposed to be good steppings but my chip sux hardcore.

Im looking at getting an Tbred XP-M here shortly.

theres defiately soimething wrong here. Can you change any setting at all in the bios adn have it post. Does it work on stock speeds?

That's what I'm afraid of Sentential.

I left it stock for 1 day. Then I went in and turned all the spectrum and cpu disconnect and stuff on that page off, and set the timings on the ram to 2.5-2-2-11 from 2.5-3-3-6 (stock). I ran prime for 2 hours fine like that. I had the ram I BELIEVE on auto, which made it 166fsb. I was in a hurry sadly :( I also turned off sata, so it'd boot faster.

So it works fine on stock speeds. I guess I'll up the voltage to 1.8v, 166x11 and see if that works. If it does, I'll just see how high I can go.

180x13 is what I'm aiming for w/ temps below 40c.

I've just NEVER seen this happen before. I've oc'ed to far before on my board, and it always does that high-low beeping. I hope nothing is wrong with the board. It is brand new, a replacement for my first rma'ed nf7-s.

Thats exactally what I thought. My initial thoughts were that the board is at fault.

Turned out that the chip sux... sorry to be the bearer of bad news :(

(see sig.)

Unfortunatly Im not kidding  Im about to fork out some cash to get one of dez wonder chips (aka XP-M)

I think your right. I relaxed the timings of my RAM, and even put the vcore up to 1.9v, and I couldn't get into windows at 180x12, 166x13, 170x12. So it looks like it's a dud. I don't see how it could be the MB, seeing how 166x10 works fine, but 166x10.5/11/11.5/12/12.5 all either fail prime or can't get into windows.

I guess I could do the L12 mod, but it's not looking good at all.

Damn this sucks. I'll be ordering another mobile barton in the future, but now I wish I didn't sell my old barton!

It's funny, my 2100+ PALIMINO oc'ed higher then my 1800+ 0330 DLT3C JIXIB. Theres $80 bucks down the drain :(

The highest stable i've got it so far is 166x10, 1.825v.

that's brutal. i had a dud 1800 that only did 2.1ghz at 1.66vcore but would not hit 2.2 no matter what the vcore.

you have a super dud.
