OMG this is so sweet, not only does it play as good as the old ones it runs a million times better then NFSUG.
1280x960 (why is there no 1024??) with 4AA and 4AF and all settings maxed, looks amazing plays perfect and got 43FPS constant.

now I know why I upgraded my PC, finally something that uses what I have and plays well.
oh and the EAX4 is amazing, I know now what eax is good for. what a great game this is/will be,

I allready owned this game on the PS2 when it came out. Now I did own colin mcrae 3 and 2. Took me about 2 weeks to get good at handeling the car and getting decent lap times.
here are some tips:

Navigator: use him, do what he says, Its not easy listening to him and driving and doing what he say BUT YOU HAVE TO. you do not stand a chance in the game without him. the numbers he shouts are the gears you should take the corners in. when he says " 40(yards to next...) 3(gear) left thightens(road gets thighter) into(from one thing into the next with no gap) 2(gear) right over crest(small bump in road which you cannot see over) dont cut(dont cut the corner or else?..[stone]) 2 left "
if you not to do exactly what he says you will mess up the corner or hit something on the 3rd corner which is a blind corner. if you dont know what all this stuff means look on the offical website of gamesfaq.com.

Handeling: brake before the corner! dont break while cornering (except hand brake turns), when still cornering never accelerate fully, only a little if you can! easy does it, never acc hard or stear hard left and right, little movement easy movement.

get a joystick or game pad. a keyboard simply will not work. when using a gamepad dont use buttons to accelerate or brake rather use analoge stick so you can accelerate slower and brake solftly or hard etc.

braking: when I first played I used to break really hard all the times, which is wrong, most of the time little breaking is required. dont lock the wheels. oh and you will be suprised what you can do by simply not breaking and not accelerating just before the corner.


surface: gravel is not equal gravel. every road surface is different, mud in sweden is different then mud in britain! gravel in australia is a lot different then gravel in spain. this is science fact (australian gravel is like round balls and they are 5mm big balls). so be prepared! also the road surfaces change a lot during 1 lap. and mix! some sand and tarmac is different the sand or tarmac, also note that each wheel is affected individually by the road surface etc.

basically the handeling is just as good and realistic as Grand tourismo. everything is very realistic = hard!

ones you get good at the game you will love it. but does take a while. I love it, and the PC version is so much sweeter then the PS2 version (sold my ps2 by the way)

and its well stupid that they dont have 1280x1024 resolution

Well played it quite a bit over the last few days, and found it was a pretty engaging driving experience, plays real good with my logitech MOMO Racing wheel. Graphics were kinda disappointing, as in my eyes track and car graphics were alot sweeter in Rallisport Challenge. Damage modelling is very good however when compared to most racing games these days and thank god the game has a cockpit view, as that is my #1 problem with racing games these days is the lack of a cockpit view wich kinda blows the experience for me, seeing as I grew up with pc racing titles wich always featured in cockpit views. On a side note/rant I feel consoles are the only reason that racing titles these days are able to get by without including cockpit views, because soo many console racing titles have and still ship with no cockpit views, therefore brainwashing the general public into believing that we don't need a cockpit view anymore. Other companies take suit and before we know it only 1 in 5 racing games actaully feature a cockpit view anymore. I think us pc gamers tend to expect a cockpit view wheras most that grew up with consoles don't even notice/care anymore.

Has anyone else seen the rally screen shots for GT4? They look a lot better and pretty close to what you see in Colin McRae. Now I am going to have to go buy a steering wheel.

The Demo is Sweet, i am not the biggest car game fan, but this is really good. The graphic are great, and i really like the handling
of the cars.
This is on my list to buy along with the games mentioned above.:p

I found the demo very nice as well. I can't say that I play many racing sims, but this one was done very well, especially with the damage effects on the cars.

Interesting, I've noticed other ppl remark Rallisport Challenge looks on par or even better than CM4, admittedly the car models on RC is holds its own but the car damage since CM3 totally p4wns all, and I think the handling in CM4 feels much better as well.

I would hope that CM4 has better handling considering that Rallisport is very arcade like in its handling .

If you guys like this pick up NASCAR Racing Season 2003 for $9.99 and download the Project Wildfire T/A mod. Its a sweet driving expirience! (plus the nascar game's the best to begin with in the genre)

I used to race nascar 2002 but cant find 2003...where do i find a copy ?

NR2003 is the last in the series, EA owns the sole rights now. Go to ebgames.com. I also saw some at Best Buy and my local Wal Mart.

when i start then game and its loading and you see the car and the camera goes to pan around it, the game exits. I get no error messages or anything, it just exits. I have no idea whats going on. you guys made the game sound so nice and i cand play it:(

Man I'm choked! my local eb games just said that they cancelled the game getting released for the pc/ps2 in north america, only the xbox will have it! and if I want it for pc I have to order it from the UK! methinks I smell the taint of microsoft on this one.

I just got it for Xbox. It is amazing. I hadn't played a racing sim in so long (mostly played arcade ones recently), but this one is awesome. I missed out on the last Colin McRae games and I regret doing so. Just to inform people, Colin McRae 4 is only $19.99 for the Xbox.

I dont think that Microsoft is cock blocking CMR4. I mean if they thought it was so great then they would have it more than $20. If anything the distributor doesnt see the need for a PC or PS2 version in N. America. This game has been out in the UK for a while. And yes it is the best rally game I have ever played on my XBOX.
