I just got a P3 700, it's a cB0 stepping. I've also got some generic memory, 128Mb stick, PC133. My motherboard is a CUSL2-C.
Right now the processor is running at 700MHz which I did that manually because isn't wasn't reading it right... I assume because of the memory being 133 Bus and the chip only 100.
I want to get the chip and the memory both running at 133MHz bus, and even oc'ing the chip a little in the process. What exactly should I set the voltage and frequency ratio's to, to acheive this?
Note: I only have the stock heatsink and fan... and after running SoF for a few hours my temp is around 40C... so I don't wanna burn it up if I up the voltage some.
Note 2: The voltage is currently at default 6.5... and my ratio's are 100:100:100
Thanks for any help.
What is CB0 stepping?
(I'm also a newbie =P)
Don't pump the voltage up until you have to. Just push the fsb a notch and test for stability (I like Prime95, ... run the complete Torture Test and you are stable.), then push the fsb up again. Prime95 only stresses the cpu and memory, so passing that test assures you the processor and memory are sound. If games fail after that, you may have other issues (pci or graphics card).
When you reach a speed where stability testing fails, then think about nudging vcore voltage up a notch. You may be able to play with IO voltage also, but I have no experience with that.
And make sure you are keeping cpu temps low (<38C) as possible.
At least that is how I have gone about it.
cBO, cCO and cDO are different refinements of the p3 design. cDO is the latest. Some say latest designs are best, but it isn't automatic that a later chip refinement clocks better. You'll see both successes and failures of both posted here frequently.

Ok I'll try that and see what happens. Thanks.
djnz: stepping is like a version, they come out with new steppings every so often... check the last 5 digits on your intel box prod. code. It should say something like SL3XX or something. Go here to check your stepping - http://www.intel.com/design/PentiumIII/qit/update.pdf

try 103fsb, then 105fsb, then 112fsb. I don't think you will have to up the voltage for these speeds. If you are lucky you might be able to get it to 133fsb (933) with default voltage.

Ok here's what I just now did. Went into BIOS, changed the MHz to Manual, and the ratio's to 133:133:33... saved, restarted, no POST.
I got back into bios and changed it back to Mhz: 700, and freqs. 100:100:33. Didn't change the voltage. I guess I should try lower ratio's?? Does anyone have the CUSL2-C mobo because it's weird how I change things... if I set the MHz to whatever I want, the ratio's automatically set themselves and I can't change them... the only time I can change the ratio's myself is if I set the MHz to Manual.
