If I wanted to build a computer that would play Counterstrike... maybe some warcraft III, but mostly counterstrike, and plays it pretty dang well, what parts would you use?

Maybe $500-600 spent on it... I'm trying to figure out the best combo of CPU and Video card power...

I'm thinking... AMD athlon 2500+, El-Cheapo nforceII mobo, el cheapo PC3000 or maybe 3200 RAM, radeon 9600 pro ?

EDIT: Little to no overclocking either... wanting to retain quiet stock cooling.

I would get a 2500+, Shuttle AN35 Ultra, 512mb Crucial 3200.

If all you want to do is play CS and WCIII, then all you really need is a Radeon 9000. The one in my laptop plays CS beautifully at 1680x1050 resolution. It also plays WCIII fine at 1280x1024.

To tell the truth, a PIII 800 with a Geforce2 would play both those games at 1280x1024 with pretty good framerates.

If you dont plan to use it for other games, then you could get a 1700+ and PC2700 and a 9000 with a AN35Ultra or even a KT600 board and it would be overkill.
