RAID 0 will give you 2x the performance of the slowest drive in your array. If you compare an 80gb non-raid drive to a RAID 0 array of the same 80gb drives, the RAID array will be twice as fast in both read and write sustainable throughput. Seek times generally increase by a very small margin because seeking is now done on two disks instead of one.
Typically the very slightly higher seek time is far offset by the massive increase in throughput.
