There are several startup programs I have disabled but whenever my computer is restarted they are enabled again, what gives? Here's which ones they are in case it matters...

qttask - Quicktime

msmsgs - Messenger (I know theres a way to uninstall Messenger if someone could tell me how)

realsched - Realplayer

realsched - Realplayer

qttask - Quicktime
This will place its self back in startup every time you run it.

msmsgs - Messenger (I know theres a way to uninstall Messenger if someone could tell me how)

Just rename the messenger folder to messengerOLD remove it again in msconfig and it will never start again.

realsched - Realplayer

For Quicktime, go into the quicktime folder and delete the qttask.exe file, that will solve that.

For msmsgs, you need to go to start > run and type gpedit.msc
when the box pops up, go to Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Messenger. On the right side, double click each of the 2 options and check 'Enabled' on both of them. This will not allow it to run.

As for realshced, look in the real folder and see if there is a realsched.exe like the qttask.exe file. If there is, delete it and that should solve that problem.

This will not totally delete it from your system...

Click Start - Run...Type the following line: RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Will completely remove the msn messenger from XP

As for RP and QT...here are some alternative programs you can use and they wont load up at windows start and dont have all of the BS spyware with them...

I am using Home Edition. While I've got you here's another really annoying problem. Whenever I open a folder it opens in a seperate window. Now before you tell me to go to My Computer > Tool > Folder Options > General I have already checked the box to make windows open all in one window, still doesn't work.

Go to control panel > appearance and themes > folder options then the general tab. Make sure that the Browse folders is set to Open each folder in the same window.
