I found out today... through a stroke of fate... that my work box has a celery 466 on an Abit BX mobo with Soft Menu...
So, during luch, I played... I am sure this is a slot 1 celery... retail HSF & NO CASE FAN but the PS.. I have no options for additional cooling... NONE...
I hit a 100MHz FSB no sweat... CAS2 pc100 RAM installed... but temps skyrocketed... So I backed it down to 75MHz... about 530MHz and it was cookin' with SETI @ 56C (MBM temp adjusted with SISsoft Sandra) when I left it for the night...
Oh.. I bumped up the core to 2.1v also... (from 2.0v)
She can take 70C according to Intel... but I run SETI on that box 24/7.. heavy CPU load... no breaks...
I just don't want to cook it...

when you say no options for additional cooling are you talking about money or time ? you cant put on better thermal compound? run with the side case off?
if it was mine and i did not want to fry it i would clock it back down until my temps where in the 40's sorry Morpheus i know you love the power.
goodluck

man i'll say a stroke of luck! 100 mhz fsb on a 466 celly! damn! with out serious cooling! oh my gawd! i'll stop now! right now!
that's pretty outa site, my last place of employment I was running the same chip but only got it as high as 75 mhz at 2.2 volts before it would hang.
Do you have a decent hsf laying around that you could "sneak" into that bad boy.

It's nice she'll run at 100 fsb, but with temps like that I have to ask........ do you like fried celery ?? It really would be a shame to toast a chip that does so much better than most :(
i highly doubt a celly 466 will run at 100 fsb without liquid nitrogen, peltier cooling, or atleast extreme watercooling. thats 700 mhz. the chip core doesnt like to go over 600 mhz. i had a celly 466 with a alpha 6035 on it and it woudnt go over 584.
and how did you just happen to know that you have cas2 memory. i doubt there were any celly 466's that came with cas2 ram. whats the point of it?
look in the database. im skeptical. its a little late for april fools
and default voltage on thes is 2 v. all of the chips in the database that are over 700 have much higher voltage settings.
Every once and a while you can get an exceptional chip if you are very lucky. If you can sneak an 80mm exaust fan in that case and replace the stock thermal pad with grease you should be in a little better shape. I don't like running my chips that hot, I would prob clock it back down some to be safe. I have 2 BP6's one has dual 366's at 572 the other is dual 500's at 600 for coolers I have alpha pal 6035 and under full load max temps are right about 100F this is with 2 80mm fans in each case. If you stay at work late one night try to sneak in some extra cooling :)

you know.. that's a good idea... some thermal goop & an internal fan...
our sys admin is always there late.. but I could go in really early one a.m... it is a Inwin case I think.. with individual side panels, so throwing in a fan & smearing on some compound should only take a few minutes... problem is, it will be my butt in a sling if I get caught...
As you all have said... such a sweet chip... I hate to fry it... maybe I need to offer work an "upgrade" in exchange... :)
Thanks for your help...
