All my systems have been Intel from my 486 onwards. I wouldent say I like Intel 'better' than AMD...I've never owned an AMD system - but i'm really, really happy with my current system.

I like Intel, I've owned 5 Intel systems over time and they were all pretty good to me. They're chips are fast enough and are good quality.
I don't hate AMD by any means, I've owned 3 AMD systems (They were all K6-2's but I don't hold that against them) and I look forward to building an AMD system in the future.

I was floored when I saw the cooling rig on my friend's Gateway AMD machine -- the office I work in requires less to stay cool on a hot summer day!

AMD chips beat Intel on benchmarking and price, but from what I understand, they're much more fragile (which explains the cooling I saw).

I have never owned an AMD cpu based system, because Intel has been more than enough (for now...)

I wont say that im dead set on Intel, every rig ive had has been Intel, so you see its alot easyier to upgrade what I have a build new rigs off my spare parts, than to build form scratch. This is the only reason I havent moved to AMD sooner..I think AMD is a better chip than Intel, expecially in performance and price..I will be building my first AMD rig within the next month. If I like AMD better I may start stearing away form Intel alltogether.

I have 3 intel's and I love em all. I've never owned an AMD so I can't help you out there :) I've noticed Intels are very stable and I haven't had a single problem with one yet. In fact, I have a pentium I on my laptop and it's still running smooth and it's 4 years old!

No I don't like intel. They are a greedy stupid company that would sooner cut their own nose off to spite there face in that rather than appeal to the overclocking market they would sooner not sell to overclockers at all (I'm not saying oc'ers don't buy intel just that intels attitutde towards them is bad)
There chip designs stick to almost acient specs, we should have moved beyond x86 about a decade ago and theres no excuse for being stuck at 32bit when consolses are already at 256bit.
Of course AMD could be said to be as bad but then they aren't big enough yet to be a trend setter like this.

I like Intel Pentinum's I had a celron 500 and I still have a P3 500 and the P3 Performs everything 2 times as quick as the celron with the stabality. The celron 500 we had I never even overclocked it and it crashed alot. Open Corel Draw and load up a picture u might get there in like a min or 2 if the cpu didnt crash it was a mirracle " I DONT recomend celron" well the new celron 2 is actually a pentinum 3 with half the cache disabled so those are probally ok. But I got rid of that piece of crap celron and got me a AMD Thunderbird 900 and that machine rocks it offers Excellent performance for price + the Stabality u Deserve. I like both and I admire AMD for getting into the game lets face it guys AMD offer more value for the buck. I personally think u would have to be crazy to buy a celron over duron well the older 1's anyways I just didnt know any better at the time and now I do. Had to learn the hard way I bought then researched :(
But the amd system i researched then bought and it was a much better purchace than the celron system.
But I still have the Intel P3 500 kicking and I am trying to get this puppy to get past 575mhz 600 locks up so i probaly need a new heatsink/fan combo. I just looked back on the purchase sheet of the P3 500 and it says Intel Pentinum 2 cooler " got burned on the p2 cooler I think so I cant overclock much" gave me a P2 cooler with a p3-- hehe wont be going back there anytime soon :)

I still lean Intel. AMD has better chips right now, and they are cheaper, but that price difference was negated when I cracked a duron and had to get another one. Plus the cooling is more expensive. Intels chips still are more reliable as the server market is still using them. Right now I like both, my next rig is going to be an AMD because it will be faster and I will be building it before the souped up P4 comes out. But I have never had an Intel based computer i have not been satisfied with, and really an AMD one either. But Intel machines do work better than an AMD.

I'm still leaning towards the Intel side my first 1g TB ran way to hot rite out of the box so hot that without being overclocked the top of the case would get hot so i took it back and ended up with a p31g and it was around 29c. theres good and bad to both and by studying the forums i think you would learn more then a post like this, your kind of asking a question like what kind of food do you like? spend some time in each forum and see what kind of problems you may be facing if you were to buy that particular CPU. I wish i would have studied before i bought mine even though i'm happy with it now .
