hey everyone, after dreaming of a bong and finding the actual proper pipe outside my house (big surprise) ive decided to start on a waterbong. it will be approximately 7' high, showerhead at the top, filled with pingpong balls to increase surfice area. ive got almost everything figured out on this except one thing who even my physics teacher couldnt help me with.

does the velocity of the air traveling up the pipe increasing its cooling properties? on industrial air conditioners, a resevoir of water is cooled by having air blown across it at a 90 degree angle to the water. which brings me to the diagram... which is better, 2 fans blowing up, one fan blowing up, or two fans blowing through?

What about a WYE? I had to 7v the 120mm (84cfm) on my 6 footer because water was either evaporating too quickly and/or flying right out of the top in the form of mist or small drops.

If I ever gave evap. cooling a try again I'd look into Volenti's design (http://forums.procooling.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=7033)

With a waterbong, they do not need to be insanely high, 3ft or 4ft is good, I think 4ft is too big. You also dont need a ton of airflow, 30cfm is great plenty.

Its nice to have a gallon reservior or something like that down in the bottom, not too much that the sorounding air heats up the water a lot and not too little that you have to refill it multiple times a day.

An autorefilling bong where it adds more water as its needed would be best because its less water to cool at one time and would stay cooler.

In the watercooling section of overclockers.com theres a little article about auto refilling.

so too much airflow forces water out the top... hmm. Volenti had some great ideas but im not looking into something like what he produced. i was looking more for a giant extreme tower that would just look badassed. oh, my pump is for cooling a machine, what kind i dont know, but i looked it up in grainer (sp?) and its something like 200gph @ 6ft. i guess what ill do is try get a tee or wyee and see how one fan works, if not well enough, replace it with a double wyee or double tee. the auto-refiller is a great idea and i will incorporate it when i get my wyee.

thanks for the help.
