I can't get this to run in XP nor can i find any drivers for it.
It used to work with the generic XP driver but now when its plugged in nothing shows in My Computer but it does in the device manager. It works on 2 other XP pc's fine.
Any ideas? Any ideas where to get a new driver?????
Welcome to the forums.
Did you try Driver Guide?

Yeah tried it but it only gives some 98 drivers for similar devices.
They all say that you don't need a driver for XP, which i shouldn't.

is it going directly into your computer or thru a USB hub?
(dont know if this is really an issue, but hey...)
do other devices work in that same USB port?
is there something plugged into USB that is working that you could swap?
edit: just re-read and it used to work.... this happened to me before, but it was a while ago and i dont know if i fixed it before i formatted or not. sorry
edit: edit: does the safely remove hardware icon come up?
c:\windows\system32\drivers\USBSTOR.SYS exists?
in the device properties device usage is set to "use this device (enable)" ?

It plugged straight into the pc, it doesn't work in any of the 6 usb ports but other devices do work in them all.
I have tried to use 2 driver files that it uses copied from a pc that it works on and that didn't work either.
I did used to work on my pc. I think i may reinstall the OS as a last resort!!!
First off, WELCOME TO THE FORUMS! Please do stick around, this is an awesome place... :)
I had this problem before, believe it or not, relating to a Dell and a printer. Plugging it into a USB port... it would not detect it at all.
I was almost at the point of reinstalling... so I made a system restore point and started to do drastic things... and I found a way of making it work...
Go into device manager, and delete EVERYTHING you have for USB, as in all drivers. Delete them one by one. You will most likely have to restart... Once you restart, Windows will put a nice ballon in your taskbar... "I found a USB port, installin... I found another USB port!" and alike. Once all of that was done, I got "Devices ready for use" or something like that... stuck in the printer, it installed and worked flawlessly after that.
So, if you are ready to do anything, make the system restore point and try deleting all USB drivers and letting windows reinstall them. It might actually work after that point. Let me know what happens if you do decide to do that, and good luck!!

Funny enough the problem i am having is with a Dell aswell!
I had tried all this and it failed to work. I had to reformat my machine anyway so once i did this everything worked.
Thanks for the hwlp and i will stick around i think!
