OK, I have an old (emphasis on old) pentium I laptop, 164MHz 64 Megs of RAM. I wanted to buy a 128 meg chip for my laptop but because it's so old it is nearly incompatible with the newer memory chips. I figured if I got a 128 meg DIMM chip I had about a 60% chance of it working. So am I S.O.L.?

Have you taken the laptop apart yet to see what kind of memory it has?
I believe laptops have smaller chips, can you post a pic of it?

yes, laptops use a smaller memory size. Check your manual it will tell you what type of memory is required and how much you can put into it. I personally don't think you will see the advantage of 128mb, 64 would be good, but for that cpu, 128 is overkill.

I agree that 128mb maybe over kill, but if you want to do it,
this web site may help.

I'd probably be better off buying a new CPU and possibly a new mobo :) Hell, if I'm gonna do that I might as well buy a new laptop. I was looking for an excuse to, now I have one :)
