I have p3 500 and shuttle av61 mother board I have been able to overclock to 575 stable
bus speed is 100
I bought pc 133 ram
I have looked to the manual on my board and voltage increaseing is different it has 0.15%, 0.5%, 1.5% & 7.8% increase options i have no idea what my voltage is and my mother board has no features like cpu temp and voltage display. My board has a option to overclock ram +33mhz so i could run a 100Mhz FSB and Ram at 133Mhz . I am trying to achieve a FSB speed of 133mhz and clock my ram back to normal unless u guys think PC 133 Ram will Run at 166 and I doubt that will h appen. I try all voltages and the only 1 that boots me at 600mhz with fsb of 123mhz is 7.8% increase none of the lower settings work. But it is untable at this speed I have added 3 case fans 2 in the side blowing air on cpu and components below that and I have 1 fan up top in the case blowing air out. Think my Processor wont go beyond 575? ,or with a new Heatsink/Fan combo give me the extra cooling I need to hit 600 and above. My ram should not be the problem but around which speed do the pci bus and agp bus stop working is that my barrier. I hear of people overclocking a celron 500 to like 800 and thier pci components still work how far is too far? any help would be appreicated.
My goal is to Overclock to about 650Mhz or so without haveing to buy new a processor or expensive components. well a new heatsink and fan combo might do it. I have some 60mm 80mm & 90mm fans. Maybe I could take out the fan on the processor and replace it with a faster 1? or get a Golden orb? I duno I need advice :)

What brand/model motherboard are you using?
What intel cpu do you have the 500e or the 500?

Shuttle Av61 is the board using VIA693A chipset

I am using Sisoft Sandra this is what it says about my processor P6K (Katami) Pentinum lll (B) 450-600 2-2 0.5v
My board is a bit odd like I said u can overclock Ram Seperate from Bus speed. I hope that gives you some infromation :)

Getting a better heatsinkfan HSF should help you out, stay away from the orb's though as they are not a very good HSF they do look good but thats all. I'm not sure i would overclock without a means of checking temps as theres a good chance you could fry your CPU your kinda flying blind rite now. When overclocking your ram and setting it to plus clock speed raising it to 166 from 133 well it doesnt quite work out like that i was hoping the same thing, what that setting is really for is if your memory is rated at 133 and your running it at 166 you can set it to minus clock speed and this will help to keep your PC stable with lower settings its a shame it does not work in reverse and give you 166.

just thought i'd add this when you overclock your FSB settings it is still overcloking your Ram despite the settings your talking about.
