I was hopeing someone could give me some advice. I have an overclocked PIII 500, slot 1, not coppermine. I can overclock it to 617 and boot into windows with heatstinker and fan. So I added a watercooled peltier to the backside of the CPU. The system shuts down byitself when booting at 617 with peltier, without the peltier it will do into windows. booting at any other speed with peltier works great. Any ideas on what this peltier is doing to my system? I gues my computer prefers it hot,
Here's a few specs on the system, HDD lowered to PIO 3, 124MHz BUS, PCI bus at 31MHz, ASUS P2B mobo, voodoo 3 3000, Toshiba PC133 256mb, two NICs on PCI bus, 300W power supply, Peltier powered with seperate power supply
Thanks

That's like saying your car speeds up when hitting the brake! Makes no sense...

What's the wattage of your seperate power supply. How do you have it wired? And what is the wattage of your pelt?

My seperate powersupply is a 230 watt AT, it claims to be capable of 8A at 12v, it provides 11.8v I measured the peltier at the 11.8v drawing 1.5 amp
This supply is not located in my case but under the desk. It is wired with 12ga copper wire hooked up the to a ground and a 12v lead off the AT supply. I have a fuse in the circut for 5A. umm nothing else drawing power off the AT
Just a little pelttier, 30x30mm I think it's 18watt at 12v, or close to that

Your not supposed to put a peltier to the "Backside" of the cpu, it goes to the slug. You are shorting the cpu out with condensation when the pelt gets cold enuff to condensate.
