UT2004 Shipping this weekend!!!

I was just watching "The ScreenSavers" on TechTV and they're playing the UT2k4 demo for their LAN party, and one of the guests there is a developer for the game. Leo asked him when UT2k4 would hit store shelves, and the guy said (and I quote) "they'll be shipping out by the end of the week, and on store shelves before the end of the month"

Unfortunately, I'm sure they will, seeing as it will be 5-6 cd's. Man, still can't get over that $39.99 price for the DVD's. Its about damn time games are coming out on DVD-ROM's.

Now the question is do I want to pre-order it, or wait...

What I did with UT2003 was play the crap out of the demo...granted, the full version had more content, but my enthusiasm for the game was diminished. This time I think I did it right. I hope there is greater mod support for 2004. It seems like they got it "right" this time around.

It may come in a jewel box, KotOR came in a box and it was 4 CDs... but % is a lott harder to do than 4 so maybe but i have a gagillion cases lieing around, I got 100 free CD-Rs and 100 free CD cases when i rodered my CD burner for my ancient dell...

You can get the VTMs (video tutorials :P) free over at www.3dbuzz.com all you gotta do is register up there and the tutorials are free, pretty fun site they got there :)

this game demo is addicting. my brother in law just played a deathmatch and was like call up meijer's and see if they have it where getting a full copy. i was like i wish too bad its not comin out to 3/16. i cant wait im getting the full copy.

Neways now on to my question. I don't have a DVD-rom in my desktop computer but my laptop does have a dvd rom. So I could read the dvd on laptop than swap files on to my computer and burn the dvd onto some cd-r's? I think I can do it but im not 100% sure.

This deal is good cuz you get the headset which I want plus another $20 off another game in future..Im gonna spend less than I would on the cd version so I'd like to just get this one but I dunno if I can..

I'll definitely be picking UT2k4 up when it hits the stores. I have the demo, and it is indeed pretty sweet. I got on a DM server the other night that had 10-20 people on it and ended up in 2nd place in my second round (started late the first round). It was fun... :D

Bestbuy also has it for 39.99 I was looking at that too as I also have a giftcard I haven't used yet. Mine is only for 10 bucks though so I'd be better off going with the ebgames deal. It says coming soon for the DVD special so you can't order it yet.

I ordered my DVD version at Gamestop, they still had a few pre orders left but not many.

I have to say just by playing the demo, it is a big improvement over UT2003, it runs smoooth and for some reason has a little more of the UT feel back to it. Weapons seem more balanced.

Well, it is about time this game hit our shelves, I have been forced to replay UT2003 over and over (not that I have minded) to keep the practice up in preparation for the iminent arrival!

Easiest way to do it would be to have the laptop networked with the desktop, and on the desktop, map the dvd drive as a network drive, then you should be able to stick the dvd into the laptop, and go on the desktop and install it from there. Only bad point I can see, is if they require you to have the disk in to play, you'll have to have the laptop plugged in to be able to play it on your desktop.
