Duron is Cheeper and Performs Better. Why would u buy Celron when duron exists? I had a Celron 500 and I found it to be very unstable I got rid of it and got me a AMD 900 that is a nice performance jump. Celron = Crash when u stress the system. Has any1 else found this to be true?
When you have a system that accepts a celeron. My Celeron was rock steady at 972 til I kilt it by stupidly lapping it too much. :( If I was starting from scratch, I'd probably go with an AMD chip.

I bougth it cuz I already had a complete system with a Celeron 400sepp and only needed to change it out for the Celeron 800. I have always ran them OCed. And you're saying "Celeron = Crash when u stress the system" is just based on your own experiences with an undecent OC. My 400@450 could render video overnight without a hickup, and my 800@1080 is starting to hold it's own also! Your Celeron 500 was already a difficult CPU for OCing, and would run rather hot at default already. What mobo and cooling were you using anyway?
Intel is more popular than AMD (thats why many people buy it). Open your local computer newspaper, and take a look at the ads it has. How many AMD systems do the stores offer, compared to Intel systems? Thats why I started with Intel, but than 2 and 1/2 years later bought an AMD.
Because celeron II works on most of the old bx boards. And the boards are much cheaper.
How does the saying go? You never get anything for free.....AMD's cost less, but they are terribly prone to cracked cores. The construction quality of an Intel chip is by far better and I don't have a problem with the peformance of my Intel system....An AMD 1.33 Ghz chip may benchmark faster than a P4 1.5 in everything except Quake III, but so does my PIII?!

umm, I got my celey because i did not want to a buy a new board. I also have a duron. I love my system with the celey because its mine and has all my snazy gear hooked into it.
And this really should be in debates, that is where this thread is going to go.

alot of us keep our intel because we dont have an extra $150 to go spend on a new mobo, then another $100 on a processor! others are just so faithful to intel that they will never leave, they keep hoping the next big thing is coming from intel
KevDaMan,
why would you buy a duron when you can buy a thunderbird for $50 more.
slake is absolutely right on this. i already have everything set up for cellerons.

I have spent too many hours in Best Buy in the past 6 months, and although you're right about Intel products outnumbering AMD (but only because Intel is the standard for the laptops they sell), I was surprised to see so many home PC systems with AMD processors... and i agree that AMD is a sensitive chip, I've seen cooling mods that were silly... of course both lines are spending too much and too much time on cooling in my humble opinion.
