how do I organize files in a directory by extension? Type organizes them by program association! wtf!

im trying to organize my music and movies. its all associated with winamp.

In the "Tools" menu under "Windows Explorer" click "Folder Options" click the "View" tab un-check the "Hide extensions for known file types" box.

Well SORRRRRRY for tring to help. Winamp sucks for video anyway. Set your video to WMP then do it by type :D

that would make things worse not better.
sorry im just frustrated, yes winamp sucks for video, I apreciat your input, helpers are good.

just do it in the command window
c:\> dir /oe <---- List sorted by extention
then if you want all mp3's in an MP3 folder type
c:\> mkdir MP3
c:\> move *.mp3 MP3

you get the idea....
And type will organize by extention. make sure that you are not hiding the extention from view in explorer...
