Ok you guys will love this one. My friend who has a P3 was trying to put a new HSF on his socket and it was on their real tight, he just wanted to see if he could get it on, didnt put any paste on yet, and when he finally got it off it broke off the clip on the right side of the socket if your looking down at it with the lever in at the front. Now what he did was put the paste on, put the HSF on, put some weights on top of it, and super glued around 2 of the edges and he used ALOT of this crap, .... yeah I know, retarded. But, I was just asking for him, and I'd like to know this myself cuz its interesting, any idea how he could get that super glue off and this possibly repair the clip on the socket?
He might as well leave it on now.
I think finger nail polish remover will breakdown super glue.
If you can get a small piece of plastic and cut it to the shape of a socket lug then make the area where it broke off flat and use a drop of super glue to attach.

put it in the frezer
get a butter knife out and start chipping away at the glue

If you are going to freeze it, make sure that you are VERY carefull when using a knife, or it may go a bit too far and demolish you core. Personally I would use nail polish remover first :)

since he had thermal compound on it the bond may not be that great, I would try removing it as the above replies have stated first and then second a very small bump may knock it off, dont hit it hard enough to break anything if it comes to that, afterwords you can use super glue to repair the lug that broke off, and i think mister B has pictures of a piece of plastic from the top of a spray can that can be used if you dont have the broken off piece of lug.
good luck
