Well I finally got my 800EB's to break the Gig on this VP-6. 1002 Mhz. 167Mhz FSB.
On cheap memory even.

Great job.....Try 168fsb....Always try to go higher! Just don't kill the chip, like i tend to do LoL

To be honest with you I dont think the memory will take it. Everything else says it will. It's stable. It did Prime95 all night, and did Sisoft Sandra CPU bench, CPU Multimedia bench and Memory bench all last night, and it never got above 95 degrees. Gotta love those FOP-32's.
But this is cheap memory. 2-2-3, and it's forced to 2. (if its actually doing it) That and I think the NIC will crap out too.

NIC! i cant beleive you got it that high :) CHEAP MEMORY! wow i disabled sideband in registry and i was able to get a little more out of my CPU but your running at a pretty high FSB so you may not get much more out of her :) she's already screamin.
And that setup would easily smoke a regular dual 1ghz system due to the extra bandwidth, which is the biggest bottleneck for dual p3's thanks to the shared bandwidth of the gtl+ bus. I've seen quake 3 benchmarks where with a dual system, anything over 750mhz is slower in smp mode due to the lack of bandwidth (this includes higher bus speeds than 100mhz) the optimum dual setup in my opinion would be dual 733's

Yeah, I'm suprised the NIC took it too. I took the heatsink off of my boards chipset, and replaced that with a blorb. Then I put the heatsink from the chipset on my nic, and believe it or not it has helped. It's a PCI 3Com 905B I believe its a TX.
But it may be time to invest in some Kingmax PC-150 memory. It's pretty cheap now. This generic RAM will hold up for now. But, you can only run on luck for so long.
don't bother with kingmax as it does exactly what it says 150mhz, it usually won't go much above this. I would go for some ocz pc166 or pc180 if I were you, it's great for overclocking and it is pretty cheap now
pc180 (http://ocz.safeshopper.com/11/6140.htm?181) and pc166 (http://ocz.safeshopper.com/11/6110.htm?181)
If you will settle for pc180 on 2 dimms then this (http://ocz.safeshopper.com/11/6161.htm?181) is a good option as it's only $51 for 2 pc180 128mb dimms.
Holy *expletive deleted* !! That is one sweet OC. I think I'd be satisfied with that.

The PC-180 sounds like the way to go. And I would rather have 2 128's than 1 256. Nice to be able to run if one craps out. That's not too bad on the price either.
Thanks for the info on the Kingmax. Almost had the credit card fired up.
nice job mine is still getting through the prime 95 test crashed at 26 of 29 but im working on it finished it once but then ran it next day and crashed at the sam spot though it runs well
NICE JOB stay man ur gonna burn em theyre giving u more than anyone could want unless u plan on installing an a/c on ur case leave it where u at if u can buy beter mem thatll help!!
PIII 866@1040
WoW. Good overclock, bet you kill on the benchmarks. Gaming's gotta be pretty smooth too.
I am currently 'thinking' about another upgrade, possible dual P3 700s OC'ed... we'll have to see.

Benchmarks are as follows. Sisoft Sandra.
MIPS = 5401
MFLOPS = 2682
SSE = 10961
FP-SSE = 13409
Yeah, it runs games that support SMP like you wouldn't believe.
And on the AC note. This is something I'm debating. I have all of my computers, except for by daughters in one room. The room has it's own window mount AC unit that keeps the room temp about 70 degrees. My internal case temp is usually about 72. The chips usually hover between 80-90 degrees, and peak out during torute tests at about 105. Some people say this is high, but it's stable, and the PIII's can handle up to 70 degrees CELCIUS. Which is pretty darn hot. I have contemplated ducting some of the AC air to my rear 92mm fan to cool the case down even further. I don't know if it's feasible because I'm really worried about condensation if I did this. The AC pulls air from inside the house. If I let it run long enough, the AC unit will ice over. This tells me there is alot of moisture in the air, and I'm afriad to pump that into my computer.
I may try it and watch it to see how bad it condensates. I'll try it on my file server first, its on old AMD 200, it deserves to die. And like my main computer, it has a plexi glass window in the case, which will show the condensation more clearly than anything else.

No problem, the kingmax is ok and it does what it claims ok. But the ocz stuff is great and really good value.
