is it possible to run 2 desktops at the same time with nView? I have an older analog monitor that I want set as a secondary display on the DVI out at a lower resolution than the primary display.

Yes, its easy to do with Nview. I think the Nvidia cards are much better at that than Ati cards (I have both).

Right now, one of my machines using Nview has a monitor at 1024x768 and another at 1280x1024, both using different backgrounds. With my Ati card I have to use a third party program (Ultramon) to accomplish the same feat.

That is so cool.
What is the effect on cpu power and memory usage?
Say i wanted to play a game on 1 and check mbm5 on the desktop?

At Idle, with Nview enabled, Cpu usage is 0%. Takes a small amount of memory, approx 12k. You can disable/enable it any time you wish.

You can display MBM or whatever else on the second monitor and play a game on the first with no problem.

There is also an optional control bar at the top of each window which will allow you to switch the window from either monitor to the other, maximize a window to one or both monitors and a few other goodies.

I like that feature on the Nvidia cards:)

In order to do the same on my ati card, i have to use a third party program.

thanks for the reply
wish I knew what I had done wrong, but I now have the primary display running 1024x768 @ 100 Hz & the secondary 800 x 600 @ 75HZ. I think the key was the "enable multiple desktops" checkbox in the desktops tab of nView Desktop Mgr.
Is there a trick to fast cursor switching between displays?
