View Full Version : What Is...
Hey im new here :)
I have two question's
1) what is a good running temp for a celeron (667@1000MHz)
2) what is a good program to see cpu temp ?
Thank's

i think you are refering to the PIII high temp, celerons cant handle that much heat so 35-40 is about the upper range of the celeron

Welcome to the forum Squish
I think outhouse ment MBM5 you can find it here (http://mbm.livewiredev.com/)
Bout the temp question, I don't think there's a good answer for that unless you can measure the exact temp, More about that HERE (http://www.overclockers.com/tips510/)

I always thought cellies run hotter then the p3's correct me if i'm wrong, on my p3 i recommend and run below 35C. Anything over causes problems because i'm overclocked so high.

no PIIIs run hotter, my proof is i had a celeron 700 which at full work load got upto 30C, my PIII now gets upto 40C under a full work load
It also depends on the CPU stepping, and voltage you're using. cB0 or cC0. (Use SiSoft Sandra to find it)
If its cB0, than it would be harder to overclock, and you probably will need more voltage, which will produce more heat.
If its cC0, it would be easier, and you won't need to bump the voltage a lot.

Yes the Katmai do run hotter because of there high default CV but they are the only a very small part of the p3 family, generaly set at default speeds p3's run cooler then the cellies, i used to inform people running cellies at high temps that they needed to get better cooling but i was informed thet they do run hotter and that there temps where fine.
Thank's guy's. It's at 1Ghz @ 1.75V
The temp depends on your ambient temp and your heatsink. With the standard intel cooler you would execpt temps about 15-25oC above your case ambient, with a FOP 38 and Artic Silver you would probabally see temps 10-15oC above ambient. around 35-45oC is what you should want, try to keep them towards the lower end of the scale though.
