compressing stuff

well i recorded some tv onto my PC, and it takes up an awful lot of space and was wondering if there was a way i could compress it to a smaller size to maybe burn onto a cd, its in mpeg form, and thanks if you can help.

what level mpeg? Unless it is already mpeg4 (divx) then that is what I would recomend compressing it to.

http://www.dvdrhelp.com/ has many a guide on how to do just what you are speaking of and could probably help you on your quest.
