Thats a tough choice, if you can afford the 700 I recomend to go for that every time, this should overclock to 933mhz on a 133mhz fsb if you have this option and maybe higher. The 667 won't necessarily get to 1ghz, and if it doesn't then you board's options determine how well it overclocks. If your next best option is only 83mhz then you will only get 830mhz. If your board has a 133mhz fsb+ and you have the money go for the 700, if you don't have support for a 133mhz fsb then try to get a 600mhz celeron as the 667 is not the best choice for overclocking.
What board do you have?

Without a doubt the PIII 700, if you look at other posts on this forum you'll see why (larger, faster cache and faster FSB - especially when overclocking)

Like I said though it all depends on the board he has, if it or any of his components can't handle a 133mhz+ fsb then it's not such a good option, and niether is the 667 as it may not reach a 100mhz fsb, so what board do you have?

This is the bad part my borther got the bored/cpu for me for my birthday.

It's a Giga byte P.O.S i can have 66, 75 ,83,100,112,133.

I'll replace it if i get the p3. I have the celeron 667 on it now @ 1GHz 1.75 V

If your willing to replace the board and buy a new cpu I would go for either an AXIA or AHYJA tbird and socket a board. Other wise stick with the celeron if you definately have it at 1ghz as this is fast enough to not need upgrading for a while, or maybe buy a new graphics card if games are what you are after

Yea, definitely get the P3 700 if you have a board that can support high FSB speeds. Mine can get up to 150FSB so I am running a P3 700@1050 at 1.8V. And my temps are really low too, about 24-25 idle with my HSF. I got the last P3 700 cC0 at PC Nut and it works great, they burned-in and tested mine to be stable at 933@default voltage. Good luck, I hope you find a good one!

Yep, the PIII higher mem bandwith. plus more L2.

I love my PIII 700E

Yeah but he said he only has a crappy board that has an fsb up to 133mhz which would do for 933mhz. If you are content running a p3 700 on that board then go for it, but don't buy a new board as well, if you want to buy a new cpu and a new board get either an AXIA or AHYJA and a good socket a board, unless you have a specific reason for sticking with intel, the most common being stupidity
