View Full Version : I need some help with my pci?!?!PIII 866@1040
After that prime95 failure gettting to test 26 and getting a bsod i tried unraring an iso and found myself faced with another bsod so i came down to 1008mhz and all was well once more i think it has something to do with my pci overclock what can i do?? os is it really my pci frequency
i have a raid card ata100
a sb li xgamer 5.1
a realtek NIC
a 3com modem
an Ati 64ddr VIVO
so which one could it be? i heard modems have a slight problem with pci overclock could this be true and yet cn i go to 1040 or am i done? i loved the way she ran at that speed id be quite content with leaving it up there, but i need a sable machine and 1008 is stable and cool so what do i do?
Pull out all the cards but the video and try at 1040.
If no more bsod then add 1 card at a time until you get a bsod then you have the card causing a problem.
You can also try setting your agp to x2 if its at x4 if you still get a bsod with all the cards but the video out.
If you still get bsod try removing all but 1 stick of memory.
thanx for the comment my ati can do 4x and the mobo is set for 2x so i dont think its my vid card is case it is one of my cards what do i do, and do u think it could be a pci related problem?
The realtek nic would be the most likely suspect.
Your memory might also be the cause.
If your motherboard lets you set your hard drive mode try ata33 instead of 100.

In addition, if you still get probs with just the vid card in, try setting agp to 1x. I did this and all my probs went away. I didn't get any score diff either. Maybe a frame or two.
Good luck

Yeah. my moneys on the NIC too.
im running my mem at 127mhz when its 133 so could tat be the problem?
If its 133 cas 2 then should be fine at 127. If its cas 3 then make sure you set the timings to 3.
ok if it is the nic card then what do i do which cards would handle a 40mhz oci bus or what do i do to the one i have
Intel in-business,3com are a good bet.
You cant do anything to the one you have cept use it as a spare or sell it.
