View Full Version : Leapyear Fun
This isn't computer related, however it is general hardware, so it fits in this category... I hope...
Anyways, it relates to my wrist watch. It is a Timex Ironman Triathlon that displays the date and time on the front with other modes being available at the press of a button.
Today it reads SUN 3 1 (weekday, month, day). Since it has no year functionality, it has no way of knowing it is a leap year.
If my watch didn't goof up, I wouldn't have known it was a leap year!!
Anyways, on this leap year day, I am wondering what general hardware has goofed up the date on you...

Apache and PHP seem to give out the correct date on my server...
I think the error would only be on devices which don't store the year... which includes watches. Not so much a bug, just an annoyance with things like that...
I certainly hope Apache and PHP store the year!!! :D

As far as I know, everything that provides a date for me is working properly. Although, my roommate might not know if its a leap year or not.

I didn't even think about leap year and watches. I probably would have gone around with the wrong date for a month.... Well, at least my computer is still all right.
The watch does have a 2 29 date... but it never sees that date automatically. At least I can fix the date though.
Sad enough, five minutes ago I nearly dated something as 3-1-2004 due to this watch... *glares at watch*. I don't see how watch manufacturers could fix this automatic date problem other than by making you code in the year into each watch and then hoping that you don't run into a year celing someday in the future (although, 30 years down the line, a new watch is most likely a necessity!).
Adding on, my Big EasyHT One for All Plus remote, that has a built in clock and date, also screwed up the date. Reset the remote to 2 28 since it doesn't have a 2 29 date inside of it. Joy of that.
<edit> Made a factual error... oops. Also, added in info about the remote. </edit>
