I'm in the process of building a new system for gaming, and on newegg, and on here, i noticed for intel, there are different letters after a cpu mhz rating. what do these stand for?
I looked in the stickies, and i was gonna search, but didnt know what to search under :-/. any info on this would be apreciated.
Also, i currentlyhave a 2.66 p4 in my shuttle XPC. how would i find out which letter i have on it? im looking at the box(i tend to keep major component boxes, for future reference i guess) but dont really see anything.
a = 100mhz bus (400)
b = 133mhz bus (533)
c = 200mhz bus (800)
e = 200mhz bus (800) prescott core
your 2.66 is a b.

"A" also can mean 533FSB prescott. Those are found as 2.4A and 2.8A. Stupid, yet true, as there already is a 2.4A 400FSB processor. Keep that in mind!!!!

I dont think anyone would ever buy the A version of a 2.4 these days though, especially with the cost of a C version being only 4-5$ more.
i thought the 2.4 prescott was a 2.4e.

Or F, due to the 533FSB and no HT.
But it is "A". As if the letters weren't confusing enough to most users out there....lol. Luckily, I'm not most users.

one 2.4a is based on NW, obviously, and one based on prescott, the only way to distiguish the 2 is by bus speed and process (90nm and 130nm)
