Sorry for posting here, but someone might be able to point me in the direction to get help somewhere else.

I get the error 0x80070725

Incompatible Version of the RPC stub

When i try to install newer or older versions of my drivers.

This happened when I used the drivercleaner utility. Ended up having to restore a previous verison of the registry, but obviously some files have been removed as a result of this.

Any help, advice, or re-direciton most welcome

Using the last version of Omega drivers, 2.6.22

For the record,
Solved this problem,

Found a thread on alt.windows98.
File
oleaut32.dll
had been replaced by an application.

Had to restore it from the file restore utility.
Worked fine.

Problem started with a driver clean which deleted some good files,. But remembered that I could restore the registry, so did that, then tried a couple of different drivers and got me sorted.

Now ATI 9800XT 256, and Omega drivers 4.2 Working like a dream on...........win 98SE.

Thanks for the advice,

Would be simple, but small office with 98 on all, and many clients supported using 98. So its even more than a cost issue.

But will upgrade one machine later in the year, and will go to XP business fort that.
