View Full Version : Window protection error: What it is and how do I get rid of it----
I always get this message when overclocking my celleron chips to extremes.
I need to know how to bypass it so I can overclock the pants off this 566 with my fat ass cooling riggage.
I have to use windows 98 for a card I'm getting than doesn't have any updateable drivers so if upgrading is the answer don't tell me. I posted this here so I could get more reads.

#1. You don't bypass a Windows Protection Error.
#2. It usually caused by an error or corruption.
#3. Overclocking to extremes will cause errors and corruption.
You can have the best chip around. You can have fattest assed cooling riggage around. You can have the best memory around. You can take your chip to the highest Mhz you possibly can. If it causes Windows errors, you have found you software limit.
You will find that, probably in this case, that the only way to get around it, is to back off on the OC a little until it runs stable.
Window protection error: that's my favorit message.
First you need to provide more information for your sistem.
:)
That's the acid-test for overclocking, this error is one of the barriers -- if you can't get past this with more cooling or less voltage, you'll have to back off the FSB.
